About the PANTONE Color of the Year
The color of the year selection requires careful consideration and, to arrive at the selection, Pantone quite literally combs the world looking for color influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films that are in production, traveling art collections, hot new artists, popular travel destinations and other socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from technology, availability of new textures and effects that impact color, and even upcoming sports events that capture worldwide attention.
Pantone has announced that PANTONE 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple, is the color of the year for 2014. We’ve branded our website using this beautiful color, and will carry this tradition on in years to come.
Wedding cards are always such a fun project to take on. In this case, we were working on thank you cards for our own wedding! We wanted our guests to receive something very special a few weeks after our big day to thank them for their attendance & gifts. While our wedding suite was lavender in color, we felt that a fun, mint green letterpress card was perfect for this piece. The wedding card came out lovely & included our wedding mark on the back of the folded card. We kept the letterpress impression light for this project, with the ink just kissing the paper with our custom heart illustration.
These two-color birth announcements were designed with love to welcome Nora Marie Fink into the world. She arrived on September 21st, 2013 with a smile on her face. First-time parents Nicole & Jon came to LadyBird Letterpress in search of a special, creative way to announce their beautiful baby girl to the world. We worked with new mother Nicole to develop a custom letterpress design.

Canton was looking for a new piece to offer as a giveaway with his holiday Bitcoin paper wallet stickers. The design was custom created by LadyBird and printed locally in San Diego, CA.
This baby announcement design for Cooper James Dean represents all things boy-themed & fun in life. Little Cooper’s room was bicycle themed, and mother Adrian wanted to bring this motif further to life in her baby announcements. The fun lines of the bicycle illustration bring this baby announcement to life! This baby announcement combines the new media of a photograph with the age old craft of letterpress. It’s a delicate balance of crafts that comes together to create a memorable and beautiful card.
These holiday cards represent the love of a newly married couple: ourselves! We designed this personal piece to celebrate and spread our love and marriage with friends & family. Our holiday cards feature falling snow in the form of the playful typography of asterisks falling like snowflakes. The blue colored ink was hand-mixed in studio & meant to convey a certain warmth that is sometimes absent in colder winter palettes. San Diego winters never quite cool down like the rest of the states, so we decided to represent this with our colors. The bright red envelopes add a fun dash of color to this joyful holiday card. We were so happy with the outcome!
